Another 1st today. I had a negative split on The Killer! 25:00 / 24:46. For my non-running friends, that means that I finished the second half faster than the first. Not really that big of a deal except this course is mostly down hill on the first half.

I took yesterday off and was restless all day. It felt good to get back out there. I ran my normal route The Killer + Farwest hill and continued to 97th before turning around for a total of 8 miles.

I worked a little harder than I expected this morning. Wind, rain, hills,... what more could a runner ask for? :) I was a little disappointed with the level of effort it required today, but it was a good run! I'm looking forward to a long run with Preston tomorrow. I hope I can keep up.

I ran with Preston this morning for probably about 15 miles; on the road until it got light out and then a couple miles in the park. We were talking most of the way and the pace varied quite a bit. I felt pretty good until the last mile or so and then had to drop back a little. I had 1:59:42 on my stopwatch at the end and I'd guess my overall pace was between 8:00 and 8:30.

Today's run was pretty easy aside from it being a little icy. I'm looking forward to the extra hill on my 8 miler tomorrow.

The first 4 miles were great this morning. Some of yesterday's snow was still on the ground, but it was warm enough that the streets were wet, and the moon was bright so visibility was good. By about 5:00am everything was covered with ice and it was a very slippery 4 miles home. If it doesn't warm up a little, I'll be sleeping in tomorrow.

8 miles at what I thought was a slow comfortable pace. It turned out to be a little quicker than I thought. That is definitely a good thing. I'm looking forward to a long run tomorrow.

I did another 15 miler with Preston and Carl this morning. Both of these guys are much better runners than I am, which is a good thing. I managed to keep up OK today, but near the end of the run I wasn't much for conversation any more, I couldn't afford to waste much breath talking. We averaged about a minute slower than my goal marathon pace and I was pretty tired toward the end. I still have a lot of work to do before June. Only one more week until 15k race day.

I ran about 2.5 miles out before ran out of sidewalk and I couldn't stand the cold any more. Bel-Red Road was a nice long downhill stretch on the way out and a great workout on the way back.

Today's race was really tough! I was hoping to finish with a sub-7 minute average pace and just couldn't cut it. The first mile was a breeze at 7:02 then the next 2 went by pretty quick at around 6:50 each. At the half way point I was at 32:02 and still feeling like a negative split was a possibility. Somewhere in mile 6 I ran out of breath. I slowed to around a 7:30 pace and thought about walking several times until the last mile marker where I picked it back up to 6:56 for the final mile. It took everything I had in that last mile to stay in front of a girl that beat me in the 10k last month. I'm tempted to blame my less than stellar performance on a bad cough I've been fighting for the last few days, but in reality I think I just need to train harder! I did set a new PR for 15k today and for what it's worth, I beat the old guy again so it wasn't all bad :)

I ran at a comfortable pace this morning and never looked at my watch until I finished. I also finally got around to putting a new battery in my mp3 player so I was able to listen to the book of Acts during my run. It was raining just enough to keep me cool and I felt great all the way through. I didn't expect to feel so great after yesterday's race. I can't wait until I'm able to feel that good running my marathon pace.

ugh! I thought I had seen the last of my 8:00+ pace. I was really nauseous this morning, but too stubborn to take the day off. I suffered through the first couple miles and eventually felt a little better. I should probably just go back to bed, but I have a lot of stuff to get done at work.

There's that 8 min pace agian :(  I'm still coughing a bit and it was extremely icy out this morning so I guess I have two excuses today. I think I used some new muscles running slow and keeping my balance on the ice. I'm not getting much faster, but I am gaining strength and I'm getting used to the daily 8 miles. I'm ready for a day off, and still looking forward to my long run on Saturday.

Great run this morning! I went to the doc yesterday and got some meds for my cough which is still nagging me a bit, but I was able to keep up with Preston today and we even did an extra loop around the park. My only complaint was the cold; my gloves weren't warm enough and I was sure I'd have the hand version of Mr. Deeds' blackfoot by the time I got home. The last two miles were under a 7 min pace which I think helped to finally warm up my left hand. My right hand is still cold as I write this. I'll post some pictures if it actually turns black :)
